How yoga counters the effects of sitting all day

Dubai-based Mithya Menon, a 52-year-old homemaker, started yoga around 17 years ago after a string of tragedies and an accident that had left her with a limp at first. “I didn’t have anything else with me at that time, not my physical or my mental health. So, someone suggested yoga to me, and I started it and never looked back,” recalls Menon. The first two years were difficult, as she struggled with poses and was frequently out of breath. “I started with 15 Surya Namaskars (sun salutations) and now, I can do 100,” she says.
